Description
This one really caughts our eyes and ears and we thought it would be an excellent addition to the catalogue. Dirtbird are the long-running project of David Lewis, who hails from central Victoria and has been releasing music sporadically under the Dirtbird moniker for over 20 years. Guitars, vocals, cello, dobro, percussion... it's a heady mix. Desolation Sound is an epic 2LP set packaged in a handsome gatefold sleeve with lyrics and striking art, and plays a sprawling slice of truly desolate folk sound. It has the abrupt tuneage and growl of Tom Waits, but also the delicate stripped-back songcraft of Will Oldham and loose and lysergic feel of Souled American. In short, it's great!
